Inaugural Youth Month™ a Success

During the month of April, WESTconsin Credit Union guided its young members down the path towards savings goals and financial education in recognition of National Credit Union Youth Month™, previously Youth Week. This year’s theme was “Wild About Saving™. WESTconsin encouraged youth to use resources available at the credit union to help them cut their way through the jungle of financial responsibility.

WESTconsin offices celebrated Youth Month by hosting several on-site and off-site financial literacy activities within each community.
Amery Office—Our WESTconsin employees visited the Amery, Clear Lake and Clayton High Schools presenting our Budget or Bust board game! We also attended Career Day at the Amery High School on April 9.

Baldwin Office—Our WESTconsin employees read to Greenfield Elementary School in the Baldwin-Woodville School District and at the Baldwin Community Library.

Barron Office—Our WESTconsin employees read during story time at the Barron Public Library on April 14.

Chippewa Falls Office— Our WESTconsin employees visited with a local elementary school and debuted our Making Cents Matching Game.

Eau Claire Office—During the week of April 6, our Eau Claire office asked members to share what they are saving for and how they are earning money to save. They also had a board posted with addition ideas for ways to save money and what to save for.

Ellsworth Office—Our WESTconsin employees held story time with one of the local daycares.

Hudson Office—Our WESTconsin employees visited with the High School to play our Budget or Bust board game and gave a presentation.

Menomonie Offices
  • Downtown—During the week of April 13, our Downtown office made a stop at River Heights Elementary School where they read a book to two different classrooms: one 4K and one kindergarten.
  • East—Bouncing Babies and the Kool Kids visited our East office for a tour and a small activity in the basement. Our WESTconsin employees went to Oaklawn Elementary School to visit Mrs. Paulson’s 3rd grade class and do a small activity on April 7. They will also be going to Little Sprouts to do a book reading.
  • North—Our WESTconsin employees went to Downsville elementary school to do a project with the 3rd graders.
New Richmond Office— Our New Richmond office held an activity day on April 15. Members could stop in and create their own binoculars and animal masks! Our WESTconsin employees also played our Budget or Bust board game with the New Richmond Middle School on April 14, visited Somerset Learning Center to do a binocular activity on April 15 and gave a financial education presentation at the Middle School on April 16.

Prescott Office—Our WESTconsin employees participated in the Malone Elementary School carnival on April 17. They had a room set up with a game, prizes and brochures for parents and kids.

River Falls Office—Our WESTconsin employees  visited Little Adventures Daycare for story time on April 22.
Spring Valley Office—Our Spring Valley office hosted a Kid’s Day on April 13! Our WESTconsin employees also visited the elementary school to read “The Bernstein Bears Learn About Saving” to the 2nd grade class.
Though Youth Month has passed, we encourage you to get your children started right on the path of financial responsibility. Bring them in to WESTconsin Credit Union—we have more ideas to help you teach them to get Wild About Saving!
